about me

Personal change is rarely easy. At times, it can shake us to our core, whether that change is self-initiated or shaped by life circumstances, relationships, or broader historical and cultural forces. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, my hope is to help you rebuild a meaningful foundation so you can move forward with greater clarity, purpose, and self-acceptance.I bring over 50 years of professional experience working with voluntary and involuntary clients in public, nonprofit, and private practice settings. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work in 1973 and my Ph.D. in Psychology in 2001. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply committed to thoughtful, compassionate clinical work and to approaching each person as a unique individual with their own values, history, and inner wisdom. At the core of my practice is the belief that people have an innate desire to grow. My role is to provide a respectful, non-judgmental space grounded in empathy and attentive listening, where insight and growth can naturally unfold.

my approach

My work is grounded in a humanistic and existential perspective, with a strong foundation in Carl Rogers’ Person-Centered therapy. I was extensively trained in this approach during my MSW program and have found it to be both enduring and effective.Central to this work is the belief that healing occurs through an authentic therapeutic relationship characterized by acceptance, presence, and openness. My thinking has also been influenced by the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas, whose work informed my doctoral research. From this perspective, therapy is a process of open dialogue—one that allows deeper self-awareness, meaning, and self-acceptance to emerge over time.

Thank you for being here

I work best with emotionally intelligent, self-aware adults over 50—men and women who are reflective, psychologically minded, and interested in depth-oriented therapy. Many clients seek support around life transitions, relationships, identity, or questions of meaning and purpose.
My practice is private pay (aside from Medicaid, Premara and Regence) and is not designed for high-risk or crisis-level care. I do not treat active suicidal ideation. Instead, I specialize in working with individuals who are seeking thoughtful, insight-oriented psychotherapy rather than short-term or symptom-focused treatment.
